2025 Board Candidates

Gil Albiani

My wife Kay and I have been long time residents of Elk Grove. We raised our five children here and have been active in the community for most of the 60 years we have resided here. I am an active real estate broker and have served on a host of local, regional and State boards. Most recently I served 20 years and recently retired from the Cosumnes Community Services District Board.

I am currently a member of the Mercy Foundation which is a fund-raising board for the works of Mercy. I have served as a board member and past chair of Methodist Hospital, the California State Fair, American Lung Association, Immigrant Trails, Mercy Foundation, Dignity Health, Sacramento Association of Realtors and on the Board of the California Association of Realtors. I was honored to be named the 1999 Realtor of the year by the Sacramento Association.

My wife and I have been long time members of the Senior Center and we have been active supporters of the 4H and FFA youth programs in our community and local schools. For the past 5 years Kay and I have chaired a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive for the Elk Grove Food Bank Services and last Thanksgiving we delivered nearly 1100 turkeys to the Food Bank for distribution to needy families. We are planning for a drive this Thanksgiving with a goal of 1200 turkeys.

I served on the Elk Grove Senior Center Board in the past as the representative from the Cosumnes CSD and am aware of the work the board does. Since my board activities have lessened significantly since my retirement from the CCSD, I have more time to devote to the Senior Center Board.

Your support and vote will be appreciated and I will do my very best to earn your respect.

Ann Emanuels

I have lived in Elk Grove for 30-years and I became involved with the Elk Grove Senior Center when we moved my mother-in-law to Elk Grove from Fresno so we could better take care of her.  She was a very active 82-year-old looking for something to do, and I took her to the Senior Center twice a week  for activities and socialization.  She loved the exercise classes, the staff and all the other seniors who treated her with kindness and dignity.   I really enjoyed the Senior Center as well.  Unfortunately, my mother-in-law  passed away, and I no longer take her there, but I was so impressed with the Center, that I advised some of my friends to join.  I recently retired from my job which was a lawyer representing commercial entities including hospitals and  assisted care facilities when they were sued. Even though I retired,  my law license remains active. I would like your vote to be on the Board of Directors so that I can give back to a place that has made such a difference to me and my family as well as countless other seniors in Elk Grove. Thank you for your consideration.

I have been participating with the Senior Center in Elk Grove for the past six months.  During that time, I have appreciated the activities offered and have participated in many of them.   It is so important that seniors stay active in mind, body and spirit. The Senior Center of Elk Grove plays a pivotal role for those of us that take advantage of this excellent resource.

It is essential seniors stay abreast of changes in national, state and local public policy that may affect their ability to attain services within the Elk Grove and greater Sacramento community.  I possess an MBA in Healthcare Administration and have thirty years experience in medical management and customer service. If elected to the Board of Directors, I believe my experience in finance, management and customer service will enhance the centers ability to meet the needs of seniors currently using the center and to expand outreach efforts to seniors not yet utilizing this exceptional resource

Lynn Wheat

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Lynn Wheat.  I am a 37-year resident of Elk Grove and since we became a city 25 years ago, I have had the opportunity to participate, volunteer, and educate myself on various functions of our city. I also participated in the City’s public meetings on the design and development of the Senior Center at District56.

As a nursing student, I volunteered assisting seniors and learned much about the needs and desires of a maturing aging population. I am grateful to now be a member of that population I served as a young nursing student.

18 months ago as a new retiree, I joined the Senior Center to participate in the day time activities, programs, and a willingness to volunteer.  My nursing career opened many opportunities to collaborate and serve residents within my community and the region. Along with my nursing colleagues, we presented educational classes on a variety of topics. I also had the opportunity to write and apply for two grants and both applications were successful.

The senior population in Elk Grove is growing and as our population increases, I believe we will want to continue to identify and offer the programs and resources that best meet the needs and interests of our group.  I am enthusiastic about the future for all of us seniors and the role the Senior Center can play in meeting that need.

When the Senior Center Board positions opened up I was encouraged by friends to submit my application and run for the position.  Like my friends, I believe I have the energy, initiative, and commitment to serve our seniors and I would be humbled and honored to serve as a team member on the Senior Center Board.

Thank You For Your Consideration,

Lynn Wheat
